Katy back on the rise to prominence with 31-6 route of Cy-Bay Florida school...

Watch out Texas High School Football!!! The perennial powerhouse Katy Tigers are back on the rise to prominence as they soundly defeated the previously 3-0 Cypress Bay Lightning from Florida.

Katy, now 3-2 enters their conference play having played what most consider to be one of the most difficult pre-season schedules ever to be played. There has been a lot said about the Tiger's beginning this season 0-2, but I'm willing to bet that this win will silence a lot of critics.
.
To be totally honest, I'm not sure that anyone should be terribly shocked by the way that Katy dominated Cy Bay today. The Tigers lost a lot of senior firepower and leadership with last year's championship team graduating. Every skill position is now manned by a first time starter in the Katy program. Most of the skill position players last year started for at least 2 years. Bo Levi Mitchel (FR QB at SMU, starter) left after holding down the QB position for a couple of years along with a host of other 2 and 3 year starters. This left the Tiger's a little bit lacking in the area of experience.
.
It seems like finding the character and resilience that it takes to claw back into the conversation after going 0-2 has brought out the leadership in the young team. I would look for Katy to quietly work its way through the conference with relative ease until they face conference foe Cinco Ranch on November 4th at Rhodes Stadium. The sparks will fly as Cinco appears to have its best team possibly ever. Katy and Cinco will most certainly round out the conference with a tough race for 3rd.
